Description

CRS 3000 is a spray-on cement based polymer modified dual-component concrete resurfacing system. CRS 3000 produces simulated paving bricks or tiles on existing plain concrete surfaces and achieves excellent compressive, tensile and flexural strength. High abrasion resistance, textured slip-resistant decorative surfaces are features of the Designer Concrete Coatings System.

Recommended Use

Designer Concrete Coatings System is tested suitable as a decorative wear surface placed on existing plain concrete pavements used for pathways, roadways, driveways and patios provided that the structural integrity of the underlying pavement is sound.

Features & Benefits

• Transforms plain concrete pavement surfaces. Colours and stencil patterns replicate traditional brick and stone surfaces. Header Courses and rosettes enhance appeal - add value. Saves cost of removal and reinstatement of plain concrete pavements.
• Tile / Brick thickness is approximately 2-3mm. Minimal impact on pavement design loadings and existing pavement levels.
• Easily applied to large or small areas.
• Service life expectation in excess of 20 years, dependant upon the abrasion to which the surface is subjected and, as is the case for paving, dependant on exposure conditions and maintenance.
• Able to be trowelled or squeegee-applied to existing concrete surfaces where brick patterns are not required.
• Decorative brick patterns require spray application using a hopper gun made for this purpose.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in the original, sealed packaging in dry conditions. Shelf life of (9) nine months may be expected.

CRS 3000 strength and development is dependant on amount of mixing liquid, ambient temperature, age of curing.

Pull-off Adhesion of 1.0 MPa exceeds normal specification requirements of 0.75 MPa for bonded finishes.

Estimating Data

20kg of CRS 3000 mixed with 2.5 litres of water and 2.5 litres if modifier will cover approximately 10m2 in a single coat application.

Mixing

Do not mix by hand. Use a mortar stirrer (available from Decorative Technologies Australia) with and electric drill. Mix at slow speed so as not aerate the mix.

• Add 2.5 litres of water to an empty pail, and then add 2.5 litres of modifier (Part B) to the pail.
• Briefly mix the liquid before slowly adding powder (Part A) while continually mixing.
• Mix for 3 minutes.
• Do not add excess water.

Primer

• Add 1 part modifier (Part B) : 2 parts water.
• If concrete has a smooth surface, a mix of 1 Part modifier : 3 parts may be required.

Surface Preparation

Correct and thorough surface preparation is essential to achieve the high adhesive qualities of CRS 3000 products. All surfaces must be clean, sound and free of dust, moisture, oils and grease or other surface contaminates such as paints, curing membranes and release agents etc.

Concrete surfaces must be acid washed and water blasted. Or Grit blasted or mechanically scabbled depending on surface conditions.

The strength of the concrete or mortar substrate should be a minimum of 20 MPa.

The prepared substrate should be thoroughly dry before applying the CRS 3000 System.

Warning: Do not apply over chalky or dusty concrete.

Placement

Primer : Paint roller, broom or spray unit
Base Coat : Trowel or rubber squeegee or sprayed.
Top Coat : Sprayed (hopper / gun / spray unit)

• Apply primer to concrete surface. Let thoroughly dry.
• Apply base coat to concrete surface. Let thoroughly dry. Sand any rough patches or high areas.
• Apply pattern design.
• Apply CRS 3000. Spray over entire area.
• Apply second coat for variegated colours and / or trowelled textured surfaces.
• Remove pattern. Use mechanical blower to clean off the area. Then use coarse broom to remove and overspray or dust from joints in the pattern.
• Repeat with mechanical blower.
• Apply two coats of CRS 3000 Sealer only.
